Yamaha Fz-s Running-in Query?

Are You know decision of this problem? Hi All, I have bought a new FZ-S Black & Green this July. I love the bike. Smooth Engine, great pick-up, sports bike feel. ? I just wanted to know from experts/users, what precautions I should take during the Run-In period? I drive at a speed of maximum 45 KMPH and RPM not more than 4K. The day I was taking the delivery, I noticed the Mechanic at Pacer Yamaha (Bangalore) rev the engine very high. This was the time when he was doing the regular pre-delivery checks. I wanted to know, the RPM limit of 5000 (As it says in the Manual Book) is only when the vehicle is moving or does it apply always? Different people give different ideas.... Some say that the running period should be till the 1st service i.e. 1000 Kms or 1st month of riding, while some say it should be for the 1st 1000 Kms. I ride only 10 Kms a day. So which rule should I follow? One more concern- Why do not these vehicle manufacturers do the necessary running-in themselves? I mean they can actually do the entire engine setting or what so ever required for the new engine to perform at its fullest at the factory and then deliver the vehicle to the customer. ? That makes complete sense, I mean most of the people lose patience and they tend to drive/ride their vehicle at a more than the desired speed most of the time. If the running-in is done at the factory, people can actually start enjoying their machines as soon as it is out from the showroom. I think there should be some mechanism to do so, as there are machines and devices to check the Fuel Efficiency of an engine. If the manufactures do take this seriously I guess they can to some extent cut down complaints coming in due to improper running-in by the user. Thanks for your answers. Ride Safe.

In this case my opinion is The running in period is 1000 km or 1 month, whichever is earlier. If the motorcycle manufacturers do the riding themselves, you would not be buying a 'new' bike, will you? Since all the parts are new, they take time to wear evenly so that friction between the mechanical parts reduces. The company has better work to do than just running in each bike they have manufactured. The parts can be worn out only by running, so there is no mechanism as such that will make the edges smoother, unless you make an automated system that would ride the bike, frequently change the gears, apply brakes etc, on its own, without being given any command. Imagine the fuel it would be consuming. Also, I don't think the government would allow this due to rising concerns of global warming and depletion of natural reserves of mineral oil.
