If I do the cross trainer, which works my legs pretty well, should I stop doing the leg weight machines?
I've got this question The cross trainer I use works my legs very well. i have it set on a program that changes the levels if incline and resistance. Lowest incline 4 and lowest resistance is 15 (For the program I do) and the highest incline it goes to is 6 and the highest resistance is 20. Should I not do the leg weight machines? I don't want to overwork my legs and I use the cross trainer for cardio because I like ti better than the elliptical and treadmill.
My favorite decision is The crosstrainer and the weight machines have different effects. They are both useful, for training different aspects of your fitness. By doing 'rep & set' exercises on the weight machines, you can improve the way that individual muscles operate, and how well they work in combination with other muscles. The different exercises 'target' particular muscle groups, building strength, contraction speed, stabilising power, or resistance to movement. The 'time & difficulty' machines train you in a different way. Your whole leg is involved in the exercise all the time, and the muscles are interacting in a fixed pattern (called a 'movement style'). Your ability to do the exercise will improve because your body finds the best way to make this style efficient. Your upper body and 'core' are involved, and your blood circulation is also being trained, because the large number of muscles being used will need to receive a lot of oxygen. By using the weight machines, you can change your 'movement style', as well as making it more efficient by using 'CV' machines such as the Cross Trainer. For example, strengthening your buttock muscles (leg press machine) will make each 'uphill' stride seem easier, so that you can operate more efficiently against a high incline setting.

What type of exercise machine should I buy?
I've got this question Hello! I was thinking of buying the Bowflex TreadClimber or the NordicTrack® X3 Incline Trainer - but both have had some negative reviews. I don't want to buy a problem-prone machine, but I feel I do best in my weightloss endeavour when I use a machine. I prefer a treadmill or elliptical type machine. Can anyone recommend a dependable machine that is appropriate for home use and won't break the bank? I'm in Canada - so it would have to be available here. Thank you!
In this case my opinion is a jump rope and a ab roller from walmart or wherever you shop. jumping rope will burn more calories and much cheaper. jump rope in 30 sec duration and then do body weight exercises such as push up squats lunges and planks and you are set. you don't need fancy equipment to workout you just need desire.

What is better- a treadmill or an elliptical trainer?
I have such question I need to lose weight and get fit, for health reasons. I have the space in my home so size isnt much of an issue im just curious as to which would be better? I do get sore knees and shins occassionally so I think for me probably elliptical would be better but im just wondering if it offers as much, in regards to fitness and weight loss, as a treadmill.
My favorite decision is You do generally burn more calories running on a treadmill, but you can burn just as much with an elliptical if you put the resistance on a bit.. it wouldn't be more than a 50 cal difference at most over 30 mins though (maybe 350 compared to 300 depending how hard you work. But the thing is, your right, an elliptical doesn't hurt your knees nearly as much, and its a bit easier and (in my opinion) more fun, so your more likely to use it more. I find some days I can't run at all because my knees kill, but I'd use an elliptical no problem. Plus an elliptical is much more diverse. You can sprint. You can turn up the resistance to tone. You can also go backwards on it to work your butt and thighs. So a treadmill might burn slightly more calories, but it won't be worth it if you can't use it as much or it's not as enjoyable. Or if it hurts too much to use a treadmill more than 3 days a week but you can use the elliptical every day (theoretically). I'd say get an elliptical. Go to a fitness store and try them out - pick one that feels good, some of them are very different. If you really get the craving to run you can go outside - but you can't do elliptical without equipment :) Good luck!
