Is it even possible for me to gain this much?

Are You know decision of this problem? I'm a 17 year old girl and I am 5'6" tall. I've always enjoyed exercise. For the past year, my routine has always been to run for about 6.5 miles on the treadmill (just about 65 minutes) at a 3% incline alternating between 5.5 and 6 MPH. Last week, I injured my knee so I had to do some different exercises. Friday I walked on a 10% incline at 4 MPH for 30 minutes and went on the elliptical for 35 minutes. Saturday, I was so depressed about my knee and not being able to run, that I just took the entire day off and didn't do anything. Sunday I swam a 4000 yard freestyle workout at varying speeds (I really can't do other strokes because of the kick that they require). And I did the same pool workout today. While I was running, I was eating about 2000 calories a day and I have cut my intake back to around 1600-1700 calories a day since I can't run. However, in the past two days, my weight has gone up about 2.5 pounds. Is this in relation to my not running, or is it just water weight? It seems impossible for it to happen since I've cut out 300-400 calories a day, but then again it happened consequently with my stopping running. Help?

Ok, what I can say about this 2.5 pounds is not very much. Your weight is going to fluctuate a little bit no matter what you do. The weight could simply be that. By switching up your routine, you are actually likely to give your metabolism a boost. Don't worry about the weight so much and just concentrate on getting your knee better. Only you can tell what feels ok for your knee, but you said you did a 10% incline and that is a huge incline. That can be bad for your knee. Try the eliptical for the 65 minutes you would normally run, or swim in the pool. Both are low impact exercises(which you probably already know). Once your knee is better, you can get back to your normal routine and concentrate more on your weight then. Good luck!

Nordic-Track Audiostrider 990 help! please?!?

I have such question I just got a new elliptical the 990 and I was wondering if there was any other way i could change the resistance on the machine besides from on the console... The resistance at 1 is just so much more difficult than the resistance on a precor (what im used to at the gym ( and i know its a diff machine but was hoping for less resistance so i could go faster on it besides harder)) Thanks for any help! :)
